Frequently Asked Question
The QC300/ND1300 units are quite old. When they were developed, flash drives had just come out on the market and their storage size was small, no larger than 2Gb.
You can get new large flash drives to work on the QC300/ND1300 but it takes a little work. I have tested the following method on a Sandisk Cruzer 256GB flash drive.
1. Start with a clean flash drive and plug it into a Windows Computer.
2. Go into the Windows Computer Management console, and select Disk Management under Storage in the left panel.
3. Make sure you know which Disk is your Flash Drive (Very Important!) Tip: You can unplug your flash drive and plug it back in again to see which Disk disappears and reappears.
4. Right mouse click on each disk partition of your flash drive, and select delete. (Note: this will delete any data on the flash drive!) The flash drive should show its whole size as Unallocated.
5. Right mouse click on the Unallocated disk partition and select New Simple Volume.
6. Click Next on the Welcome to the New Simple Volume Wizard.
7. Key in 1000 Mb into the Simple volume size in MB box, then click on next.
8. On the Assign Drive Letter or Path dialog, click Next.
9. On the Format Partition, select FAT, Allocation unit size leave set to Default, and the Volume label box you may change to a descriptive name. Note: if FAT is not an option, then you entered a number that is too large in the Simple volume size in MB box on step 7. Click back twice and follow step 7 onwards.
10. Click on Next, and then Finish.
11. Your flash drive will now work on the QC300/ND1300.
