The New Firmware v02.00.12 Provides Performance Enhancements
- Improved EVO Cam II USB3 interface. This reduces the likelihood of ‘image freeze’ which is caused by the PC not reading the video stream at a fast enough rate*. This is a normal event (which should not cause the image to freeze) and the PC will request a restart via the USB command channel. With the new firmware release, this operation is now handled more efficiently.
*With DimensionTwo, this event produces a chiming sound to notify the user of a communication issue.
- Crosshair alignment is now unaffected by firmware upgrades. With previous firmware upgrades, the update process reset the crosshair to the default center of the screen and not the center of the optical axis. So following a firmware update, the crosshair had to be manually reset. This is now no longer the case; the current position of the crosshair will be unaffected by the firmware update.
Note that the release version number (2.00.12) does NOT appear in the internal version number. I mention this because, by coincidence, the release version number has been the same as the middle section of the internal version number in previous firmware releases.
